Coca-Cola Real Business Challenge

Last Monday, when most of the girls were still wrapped up in bed under their duvets enjoying the extra day of Leave Out, eight Year IV girls, together with Ms Whay and Mrs Nadin went to the Leeds Armouries Museum to represent Queen Margaret’s at the regional finals of the Real Coca-Cola Business Challenge. They were chosen by Coca-Cola from the presentation they produced on the enterprise day in November. The girls had already done a fantastic job by being one of only ten schools to get through to the regional finals from approximately 100 entries.

At the event they were competing against nine other Northern Schools and had to come up with an idea for a fundraising event for the Special Olympics to be held in Sheffield in August, of which Coca-Cola is sponsoring. The girls had to prepare a presentation, produce a budget and prepare an advertising campaign which included a radio advert and bus stop poster. They had to work as a team, display leadership skills and good communication, as well as keeping tight time deadlines.

The girls gave a very slick presentation, and although they did not win on the day (a decision Mrs Nadin and Miss Whay did not agree with!) they did themselves and QM proud. Well done to Ella Peel, Anna Barker, Kathy Lai, Harriet Brown, Harriet Forster, Paula Pujol, Eloise Booth and Tara Campey.
