Beauty and the Beast – One Week To Go!
There is just one week to go until the curtain goes up on QM’s eagerly anticipated production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.
Our girls love Disney (as our Head of Dance, Miss Leadley, will attest to, after being begged to do a Disney-themed Dance Show for years and finally giving in last November). With this in mind, selecting a musical production for our Senior girls this year was a little easier for Director of Drama, Mrs Griffin. She remarked that she has never seen such joy as when she announced it would be Beauty and the Beast to the girls.
Our story opens on an arrogant prince who is punished for his judgmental and cruel behaviour. Cursed to live as a terrifying beast until he finds true love, he and his servants recede into the shadows, feeling hopeless and alone.
Strangely, the Beast’s chance finally comes when he captures an unwitting inventor, whose place is then taken by his bold and beautiful daughter Belle. Helped by the Beast’s enchanted servants, including a clock, a teapot and a candelabra, Belle begins to see the sensitive soul behind the fearsome facade. But as time runs out, it soon becomes obvious that Belle’s cocky suitor Gaston is the real beast of the story.
Performances will take place on Thursday 28, Friday 29 and Saturday 30 November at 19:30 in the School’s Champan Theatre. To be added to the guest list please email email@example.com.
Prior to the show opening on Thursday 28 November we will be hosting a VIP Gala Reception. You’re invited to join us at 18:30 to enjoy some fizz and canapés before taking your seats to watch the show.
