Royal Northern College of Music Place for Grace
Congratulations to Grace Marwood, Year IV who, over the summer, auditioned for and has been accepted into the Royal Northern College of Music’s (RNCM) Junior Conservatoire. The news comes after Grace was invited to join the National Children’s Orchestra (NCO) earlier this year and means she will receive world-class tuition.
Here, Grace shares her news with us… “After my A Levels at QM I hope to study Music at a conservatoire with a view to becoming a professional musician. During my time with the NCO this year, a number of rehearsals were held at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. After the summer NCO concert at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall, I decided to audition for the RNCM’s Junior Section and was fortunate to be offered a place.
The RNCM course runs every weekend and lasts for a minimum of two years. In addition to advanced study on my principle instrument (the Violin), I will have the opportunity to play as part of a Piano quintet and as a member of the Junior Symphony Orchestra. Academic lessons will cover Chamber Music, Composition, Theory and Musicality. I’m very excited. The RNCM is a great opportunity that will hopefully complement my studies at School. A big thank you to all of the teachers and the Music Department in particular for their support!”
