Lifeguard Training

Lifeguard Training at Queen Margaret’s is in place to allow girls to undertake the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) Award after training to be qualified through the RLSS. Queen Margaret’s is an approved training centre; while there is a charge for the course, it is significantly lower than outside of School.

Girls aged 16+ are able to undertake the certification, which includes completing a minimum of 36 hours training and an assessment. This includes one evening a week for 10 weeks and a few full days (Sundays). The course is normally completed within a term.

This is an internationally recognised qualification which will allow girls to find work as part of a gap year once leaving QM. The course promotes teamwork, decision making and leadership skills. This can also be used towards the Skills & Service elements of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh award.
